TYRIS Construction was formed in 1995, on the back of tenders won to lay foundations and execute erosion repair at ESKOM’s Impala and Illovo substations. Over and above its work for ESKOM, the new company soon fostered an excellent reputation building residential, commercial and retail structures for various independent developers. So much so, that in 2002 TYRIS Realty was created to secure development opportunities for the Group itself, thereby keeping the entire process – from developing, through the laying of civil work to the building of the top structure – under the Tyris umbrella.

In 2007 TYRIS Plant hire was formed. The three divisions, although separate entities combine to form the TYRIS Group, which is represented in all sectors of the building industry countrywide - from prime residential and commercial developments to civil contracts for ESKOM (as far a field as Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, Pietermaritzburg in KZN and Paulputs in the Northern Cape).

TYRIS Realty and TYRIS Construction are responsible for the development and construction of approximately 750 homes per year, ranging from sectional title and cluster houses to retirement villages incorporating frail-care amenities. They have also been involved in a number of commercial projects in Pretoria, Johannesburg and the East Rand as well as with the development of state-of-the-art leisure and conferencing facilities such as Kievits Kroon Country Estate to the North of Pretoria.

Both divisions are backed by TYRIS Plant Hire. The Plant Hire division provides TYRIS sites with all their large and small plant requirements and with the maintenance thereof. The division also services a growing number of outside clients.

The success of the TYRIS Group can be attributed to its “one team” philosophy where all stakeholders understand and work within the confines of a strong group culture. The Group maintains a firm belief in joint venture relationships where the experience of each individual partner can be accessed to better the project at hand. The strength of these partnerships can be seen in the success of the developments produced to date.
